iPhone 4 Unlock Not Left in The Cold

Good news to any of your iPhone 4 users who updated their baseband and have no way to unlock it. The Dev-Team has found some good leads into unlocking the iPhone 4. They will start to work on an unlock for the iPhone 4 baseband after all the hype of 4.2 has been over.

Don't expect to have a unlock for your iPhone 4 as soon as the iPhone 3GS or 3G but just expect to have an unlock that's going to be worked on right after the excitement over 4.2, Just be patient and you'll get your unlock in no time at all.

Remember do not annoy the Dev-Team for the release of the unlock for your iPhone.

How to Unlock iPhone 3G/3GS, 4 on iOS 4.0

Jailbroken iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4 on iOS 4.0 can now be unlocked using The Dev-Team's ultrasn0w version 0.93. Ultrasn0w allows your iPhone to be used on any GSM carrier (like T-Mobile).

Ultrasn0w is compatible with basebands 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, and 05.13.04.

1. Make sure your iPhone is jailbroken and on frimware 4.0. (How do I do that?) Then connect to a Wi-Fi network and open Cydia.

2. Tap on the Manage tab.

3. Tap on Sources.

4. Tap on Edit, then Add.

5. Type in http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com. Then, tap Add Source and wait for the source to be added.

6. Now tap on the Search tab and type in ultrasn0w, tap on it, tap Install, then Confirm.

7. Wait for ultrasn0w to be installed. Once it's done, press the Reboot Device button.

8. Once it's done, you device will be unlocked and ready for use on carriers like T-Mobile.

How to Unlock iPhone iOS 3.0 thru 4

Today iOS 4 was released and soon after the iPhone Dev Team released an unlock for iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS (and possibly iPhone 4).

This unlock supports all basbands 04.26.08 thru 05.13.04, which means all basebands released firmware 3.0 thru 4.0. Though the unlock can only be installed though a jailbreak and an iOS 4.0 jailbreak is yet to be released.


How to Unlock

1. Open Cydia, tap on the Manage tab, Sources, Edit, and Add.
2. Type in "repo666.ultrasn0w.com" and tap Add Source.
3. In the Search tab, type in "ultrasn0w" and install it.

Restart your iPhone if it doesn't do so automatically. 

Now your iPhone should be unlocked to be used with carriers like T-Mobile.

ultrasn0w Unlock for 04.26.08 Baseband Released

The Dev Team has released the ultrasn0w unlock for the 04.26.08 iPhone baseband.

This is not for the newest baseband, 5.12. The Dev Team is also stressing that this is only for iOS4, not for earlier 3.0+ firmware versions. The Dev Team has stated that new baseband unlocks, for newer basebands, will not be supported until the release of iOS4.


To install ultrasn0w, add http://ios4.ultrasn0w.org to your sources list in Cydia and search and install ultrasn0w.
