iOS 4.2 Delayed Again

iOS 4.2 Supports: iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3gs, iPhone 3g, iPod touch 4g, iPod touch 3g, and iPod touch 2g.The new 4.2 which brings a lot of anticipation to the iPad multitasking, the fix the iPhone's security flaw, and the speed improvement for the iPhone 3g is delayed from November 12th to most likely November 24th. The main cause of the delay is the wifi functionality with the iPad.
The iPad can only get to a certain point to connecting to but cant never access the internet. But, hopefully apple solves the problem in a short time and then releases much earlier than November 24th.

iPod touch with Camera Leaked, Possible 4th Gen?

Back in September, Steve Jobs explained why the iPod touch 3rd Generation did not come with a camera. Now, Tinh Tế (the people who showed another iPhone 4G) has acquired a new prototype of an iPod touch.

The device is running in diagnostic mode with a functioning camera. The camera shown has a 2.0 megapixel camera but still features the same curved back style as the second and third generation iPod touch.

Jailbreak on 3.1.2 with blackra1n

Geohot has released blackra1n RC3 which now jailbreaks all iPod touches and iPhones (including iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3rd Generation).

This jailbreak will not allow iPhone users to unlock for use on other carriers so if you rely on an unlock, stay with firmware 3.1.1.

For iPod touch 3rd Generation, the jailbreak is tethered so every time you fully turn off your device, you'll need to plug it back in and repeat steps 2-5.

  1. Make sure you're on firmware 3.1.2 by going into Settings, General, About, and then Version.
  2. Download and open blackra1n RC3:
    Windows - http://theipodtouchproject.googlecode.com/files/blackra1n.exe
  3. Mac - http://theipodtouchproject.googlecode.com/files/blackra1n.zip
  4. Plug in your device into your computer.
  5. Press Make it ra1n on your computer.
  6. Wait until the an image of a man with iPhone's spinning around him comes up. If you don't get the image, just restart your device, close blackra1n, and repeat steps 3 and 4.
  7. Once your device reboots, you should see a blackra1n icon on your homescreen, tap on it.
  8. Make sure you're connected to the internet, select Cydia, and tap on install.
  9. Blackra1n will now download and install Cydia, once it's done, Cydia will be on your homescreen.

    Greenpois0n to Jailbreak 3G touch

The Dev team has yet to test it, they have a strong feeling that a previously discovered exploit will help them jailbreak the iPod touch 3rd Generation. The program is expected to be called Greenpois0n, similar to Redsn0w which jailbroke the iPod touch 2G. You can the site for Greenpois0n here. This is what the Dev team wrote on their blog a few days ago:
Nobody on the team has an iPod touch 3G unit yet, but westbaer tested our exploit on his 3.1GM iPhone and it is still vulnerable :) This is a very good sign.

The dev team has also released a video showing that it does work.

Hopefully this means that the iPod touch 3G jailbreak will come much faster than it did for the iPod touch 2G a few months ago.

Is Apple Planning for a Different Release iPod touch 4th Generation? Three Facts That Say 'Yes'!

With the overwhelming disappointment that some faced after seeing that the new iPod touch released on 9/9/09 did not receive a camera, some are speculating that a new iPod touch is imminent at Apple's (usually) music and computer themed event on October 14th. They have pretty good reason to believe so also! There are some pretty hard-core facts backing a possibility of a new iPod touch. Here is a run-down of some of the clues Apple may have left behind.

Best Buy Cases with Camera Holes and Dates
Best Buy has put up black and white silicon cases for $24.99. What is interesting about these cases is that they both have holes in the top center where a possibly leaked video previously showed that there was a camera in that same position. These cases can be pre-ordered, the date that they are estimated to be released is the exact same day that Apple holds their music and computer themed event; October 14th!

    Space for Camera Found
We already covered this topic yesterday, click here for the full information or read on for the gist of it. iFixit took apart the new iPod touch to find that there was in-fact room for a small (and cheap) camera to fit into. The area, about 6mm x 6mm x 3mm, would be enough to fit in a camera like the one the Nano got, but not as great as the one in the iPhone. ( This pretty much made Steve a liar when he was interviewed after the Rock and Roll event quoted that there wasn't enough room for a camera in the touch.)

Apple Doesn't Call it an iPod touch 3rd Generation
I scoured the Apple website for 30 minutes looking anywhere that would indicate the model name of the new iPod touch. While most people have started to call it the iPod touch 3rd Generation, there is not a single phrase on the Apple website that calls it anything besides an iPod touch. While the Nano which was released in the same event is called the iPod Nano 5th Generation in almost all cases! On Apple's battery replacement page, the new iPod touch is referred to as "Late 2009" while the Nano and older touch's are refereed to by their generation number.

These 3 facts all prove one thing; Apple hasn't give the public the entire scoop on iPod touch. What that may be, is for you to decide using the facts.
